Get the Nearest Distance Between 2 Sets of Addresses

  • Truth 1: "This uses the 'haversine' formula to calculate the great-circle distance between two points - that is, the shortest distance over the earth's surface - giving an 'as-the-crow-flies' distance between the points (ignoring any hills, of course!).", Movable Type
  • Truth 2: This uses the Google Geocoding API to find the latitude and longitude of the addresses uploaded. It then uses the haversine formula to find the nearest address match between the 2 files.
  • Truth 3: This uses the Google Distance Matrix API to find the travel distance and time between the matched addressed.
